Southridge's Freund leads district divers

Southridge High School senior Danielle Freund had the highest scores through eight dives at the district swim and dive meet at Central Washington University in Ellensburg on Thursday.

Freund, who has already qualified for the state 3A meet, has 296.05 points.

Kamiakin’s Danielle Brandon, who has also already qualified for the 3A state meet, sits in second with 265.35 points.

In the 4A competition, Richland’s Kelsea Hinkley is in second place with 246.40 points.

The competition resumes Saturday afternoon at CWU, with each competitor getting three more dives.

The top two placers earn state berths.
