BOARDMAN -- Portland General Electric and Abeinsa are scheduled to begin construction on the Carty Generating Station near Boardman in January and are holding a job fair Nov. 5.

The fair will be at the Port of Morrow offices, Riverfront Center, 2 Marine Drive in Boardman. There will be two sessions: from 9 to 11 a.m. and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

PGE and Abeinsa will give a project overview. In addition, a Pendleton Building Trades representative will highlight the job opportunities the Carty project will bring to the local building trade unions.

Several building trade representatives will be available following the presentations to answer questions about the various crafts and the hiring criteria.

Representatives of TransCanada also will attend. TransCanada will be completing a pipeline to provide the facility with natural gas to fuel the generator.
