Schools participating in Girls on the Run

By The Tri-City HeraldOctober 28, 2013

Several area elementary schools are participating in Girls on the Run, an after-school program geared for third- to fifth-grade girls that focuses on personal fitness and character development.

The program curriculum combines training for a 5K run with lessons aimed to enhance young girls' independence and problem-solving skills and teach them to make healthy decisions.

Most Girls on the Run teams in the area meet twice a week, until mid- to late November. Contact your school to find out how to volunteer or get your child involved, or for more information, go to www.girlsontherun.org.
