Awards and Achievements for Oct. 27

-- The Red Robin Tip A Cop event on Oct. 12 in Kennewick raised $4,490 for local athletes involved in Special Olympics. Law enforcement staff worked alongside Red Robin servers, waiting tables to collect tips for the fundraiser.

-- Veronika Lee Redmann graduated from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. The graduation was held at the Lincoln Center in September 2012. She earned her doctorate in biomedical sciences.

She is working at Washington University & Medical School in St Louis, Mo., on her post-doctoral fellowship.

She was born and raised in Richland. She attended Christ the King School and Hanford High School.

Parents are Dot and Klaus Redmann of Richland.

-- Richland's Hanford High School marching band took several honors at the Yakima Harvest Festival recently.

The band won the Grand Sweepstakes Award for first overall for the second year in a row, a release said. It also took home the following caption awards for its division: best drum majors (Brooke Patton and Trevor Shibley); best percussion; best auxiliary; best brass and winds; best general effect; and best marching.
