Two men hospitalized after attempted marijuana robbery, police say

October 26, 2013

One man was shot and another hit in the head with a pistol during an attempted robbery, police said.

Steven Kravarik, 31, and Juan Simiano, 19, both of Kennewick, were hospitalized with injuries not considered life threatening after being shot at Kravarik’s home late Friday in the 1100 block of South Newport Street in Kennewick, Kennewick Police Cpl. Todd Dronen said in a news release.

Several masked suspects came into Kravarik’s home, forced Kravarik and Simiano to the ground and demanded Kravarik’s medical marijuana, Dronen said.

One suspect hit Simiano in the head with a pistol, Dronen said. Kravarik was shot through his arm, and the bullet then traveled into his neck, Dronen said.

The suspects left the scene and have not been found or identified, Dronen said.

“At this point we do not know if the suspects knew the victims,” Dronen told the Herald.

Dronen said that police are not aware of anything being taken from Kravarik’s home.
