Second-half property taxes coming due

Tri-City HeraldOctober 25, 2013

The deadline to pay second-half 2013 property taxes in Benton and Franklin counties is Oct. 31.

Those who pay late face interest charges and penalties.

Benton County’s treasurer said those planning to mail in their payments shouldn’t wait until the last minute because of changes to local mail collection times.

“At the very least, consider (Oct. 30) to be the due date when paying taxes via the mail,” Treasurer Duane Davidson said in a news release.

Benton County payments can be made online at www.bentoncountytax.com; mailed to the treasurer’s office in Kennewick at 5600 W. Canal Drive, Suite A; dropped off in person at the treasurer’s office in Kennewick or the county courthouse in Prosser; or left at drop boxes at the Prosser courthouse, the Kennewick annex, the Richland Auditor’s Office at 101 Wellsian Way or City Hall in Benton City, 708 Ninth St.

In Franklin County, payments can be mailed to the treasurer’s office at the county courthouse at 1016 N. Fourth Ave., Pasco, dropped off there in person, paid online at www.co.franklin.wa.us/treasurer or left in a drop box in the courthouse parking lot.
