Election letter -- Port of Kennewick: Givens

October 22, 2013

Horse owners, we have an opportunity with our vote to help elect a highly qualified "horse" person into public office. John Givens is campaigning for Port of Kennewick commissioner. He has 20 years' port management experience and has been a highly visible Tri-City community leader since moving here in 1997. John is best known to many of us for his tireless volunteer efforts at equestrian events aimed at child development. With his announcing skill, Givens is the volunteer voice for many of our local horse events. John has freely given many of his days assisting with Benton-Franklin County 4-H equestrian events during fair time. John has also judged our annual fair 4-H horse show several times.

One of his most memorable honors was being selected to judge equestrian events at the State Special Olympics competition. John donated his pay back to the organization. He proudly displays in his home the medal given him in return. John won't accept money toward his campaign from special interest organizations, but we as horsemen can thank him with our vote when our ballots arrive. Please check out John's website at electjohngivens.com.
