Authorities offer cash reward for man suspected of assault

Man suspected of assaulting a loss prevention officer while trying to steal merchandise from the Kennewick Wal Mart.

— Local police are looking for a suspect who they say assaulted a loss prevention officer while trying to steal merchandise.

The incident happened on Oct. 17 at the Wal Mart in Kennewick. The suspect reportedly tried to steal a sighting device for a gun and a tablet cover, according to Tri-Cities Crime Stoppers.

As the man was leaving the store, the officer tried to stop him, according to Crime Stoppers. The suspect allegedly hit the officer in the neck and dropped the merchandise before running.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
