Election letter: Initiative 522 -- Yes

October 17, 2013

I am not a scientist. and I don't know if GMO (genetically modified organisms) or GEO (genetically engineered organisms) food is a health hazard, but I am a consumer and I want to know what I am buying.

More than 50 other countries require GEO labeling of food products but the out-of-state, anti-Initiative 522 corporations are spending millions to prevent us from seeing information available to any Canadian.

This is not to say I-522 is anti-business. Many businesses and farms support I-522. Dr. Bronner's Soaps has donated more than a million dollars promoting GEO labeling.

I-522 is not about the pros and cons of GEO -- it is about our right to know what is in our food.
