BENTON CITY -- A Benton City woman whose daughter recently participated in an early graduation ceremony so her mother could watch died Tuesday.

Kara Jordan, 44, died at her home. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009.

A September story in the Herald highlighted how Jordan's family and the Benton City community rallied to organize an early graduation ceremony for her daughter, Rylee Smith, 16, a junior at Ki-Be High School.

Family members said the event was meant to fulfill Jordan's wish that she see her daughter graduate.

Jordan had lived in Benton City for 16 years, according to a death notice submitted to the Herald.
