Editorial board interviews state Senate candidates

October 15, 2013

— The Tri-City Herald editorial board interviewed candidates for the Eighth District state senate seat Tuesday.

KNDU-TV filmed the meeting with incumbent Sen. Sharon Brown and her challenger Phillip Lemley and live streamed it on the internet.

Brown, a former Kennewick councilwoman, was appointed by Benton County commissioners to the position earlier this year when Jerome Delvin was elected to the county commission.

Lemley, a Richland councilman, is retired after working as a communications engineer on the vitrification plant project at Hanford. Both are Republicans.

Brown won handily in the primary against Lemley and West Richland Councilman Tony Benegas to narrow the race to two for the general election. Ballots are being mailed this week.

The two-part footage of the meeting is available below.
