A fire closed the Wendy's at 930 George Washington Way in Richland on Friday.

No one was injured in the blaze, which began about 11 a.m., said Battalion Chief Tom Huntington of the Richland Fire Department. It was contained to the ventilation system. The restaurant suffered smoke damage inside.

Rory Asay, the restaurant's director of operations, said it will reopen Tuesday.

Huntington credited the quick response by the restaurant's staff.

"They did a great job of getting the building evacuated before we got here," he said.
