Sign a Christmas card for wounded troops Saturday

By the Herald staffOctober 10, 2013

Calling all Tri-Citians: your signature is needed to cheer up wounded military personnel at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.

Former volunteers of the U.S. Troop Care Package group will be joining the Benton City American Legion and the Richland and Kennewick VFWs for the 10th annual Christmas card signing event for wounded military members.

Drop in and sign a card anytime between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Columbia Valley Grange at Road 64 and Court Street in Pasco. The groups' goal is to have as many signatures as possible on the 500 cards so there is no white space left on the cards, organizers say.

Food and drinks for purchase will be provided.

The cards, in addition to stockings filled with candy, will be sent to wounded troops at Walter Reed.
