— Kiona-Benton City Elementary and Middle schools were briefly on lockdown Thursday morning after a shoplifting suspect ran through the school’s properties, authorities said.

The suspect, John Dillon, 19, was eventually arrested near the library, said Lt. Chuck Jones, Benton County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

The schools were on lockdown for around 10 minutes, Jones said. Both schools returned to their usual schedule following the incident.

Dillon was booked into the Benton County jail.
