Crime Stoppers seeks 'violent offender'

Authorities believe a 33-year-old man who is considered a violent offender is in the Tri-Cities.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Task Force tracked John Burton Cox to the Tri-Cities. He is wanted by the Columbia County Sheriff's Office for failing to appear on a second-degree kidnapping charge.

Cox has made threats to shoot people and is considered dangerous, according to Tri-Cities Crime Stoppers.

Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to Cox's arrest.

Cox is described as being 5-foot-9, with brown hair, blue eyes and multiple tattoos.
