Washington's Amber Alert still operating

Washington’s Amber Alert system has not been affected by the government shutdown, despite reports to the contrary, the Washington State Patrol said Monday.

Amber Alert’s in Washington are distributed by a private contractor and will continue to be sent out to the public if a child is abducted, state patrol said.

Some reports have said the Amber Alert system would not be sending out notifications during the shutdown, state patrol said.
