Politicians today remind me of kids having tantrums, hands pressed over their ears hollering "No, no, no! Can't hear you!" Recently I watched Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-Texas) filibuster replete with a recitation of Geen Eggs and Ham. Have Congress and the president taken leave of their collective senses?
While the nation waits for important decisions regarding funding the government, jobs, the economy, health care and immigration reform, our leaders squabble like children. No one is willing to stop their tirade and listen. It's all about the individual and his or her party.
I wish that someone would step forward and lead. Now is the time to be responsible, to listen to ideas for resolution to these issues and apply sensible and thoughtful guidelines, regardless of political affiliation, in selecting the best and most prudent solutions. We have lost our rudder and need a decisive captain to quell the mutiny and steer the right course.
