Former Cinnabon employee convicted of theft, false reporting

By The Tri-City HeraldOctober 3, 2013

A former Cinnabon employee recently was convicted of theft and false reporting for lying about an armed robbery at the store last year in order to cover her own theft.

Mirella Lorena Garza of Pasco pleaded guilty in Benton County Superior Court to second-degree theft and false reporting for making up the robbery at the Columbia Center mall store, police said.

Garza told police a gunman assaulted her, tied her hands with zip ties and stole the store's money. She later admitted to police she stole the money.

Garza's false report caused taxpayers "an incredible amount" of resources, police said.
