Highway 12 to reopen at White Pass

Tri-City HeraldOctober 3, 2013

One lane of a washed-out section of Highway 12 at White Pass is scheduled to reopen this weekend.

A traffic signal will direct drivers through the quarter-mile section of road between Naches and Packwood, according to a Washington Department of Transportation news release. Drivers can expect minor delays.

The road has been closed since Tuesday after heavy rains caused severe erosion to a 500-foot section of Highway 12, three miles east of White Pass, WSDOT said.

Gov. Jay Inslee signed a resolution Thursday that will allow WSDOT and local agencies to seek emergency federal funds for the project, WSDOT said.
