A Southridge High School senior has been named a semi-finalist in the National Merit Scholarship program while 10 others in the Kennewick School District and at Catholic high school Tri-Cities Prep also were recognized.
Catherine Warner will go on to compete for one of 8,400 scholarships awarded by the program nationally.
The following students were named Commended Students by the organization. They will not continue in the competition for a scholarship but represent the top 5 percent of the 1.5 million students who entered in the annual competition.
Commended students include: Jack Kelly and Yvonne Lumetta of Tri-Cities Prep; David Zilar of Kennewick High School; Garrett Deardorff and Ashley Larsen of Southridge High School; Madeline Cicotte, Tuff Henson, Tiara Johnson, Elizabeth Mo and Kelsi Ramos of Kamiakin High School.
