A 60-year-old Kennewick man has pleaded innocent to allegations he sexually assaulted a grade-school girl in 2011.

Gary Alan Bond is scheduled for trial Nov. 12 on one count each of first-degree rape of a child and first-degree child molestation. Both charges include the allegation that he used his position of trust to get close to the girl.

Bond was taken into custody at his court appearance and ordered held on a higher bail amount of $50,000.

The girl reportedly told her mother about it two years ago, and the incident was investigated, but Bond's whereabouts were unknown until recently, when police received information he was back in the Tri-City area.

In an interview with authorities, the girl said Bond inappropriately touched her and pulled her pants down and forced himself on her, according to court documents.

Bond's history includes a 1991 investigation for child molestation in Richland, which resulted in a conviction for communication with a minor for immoral purposes, documents said.

When police sought the arrest warrant for this case, he also had two misdemeanor warrants.
