Freund qualifies for state diving meet

Southridge’s Danielle Freund posted a state-qualifying mark and cleared the field by a ways, scoring 353.05 points in an 11-dive meet at Serier Pool in Kennewick.

Freund, who placed fourth at state as a junior last season, finished more than 87 points ahead of second-place finisher Ali Brandt of Wenatchee (265.75). Fewer than eight points separated the 2-3-4 divers.

Hanford’s Kayla Lasater finished a close third with 263.20 points, with Richland’s Kelsea Hinkley not far behind with 258.10 points in fourth place.
