Wet and windy weekend forecast for Tri-Cities

— Rain and wind gusts of up to 48 mph are forecast for the Tri-Cties this weekend.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory from 2 p.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Sunday.

Strong winds aloft will move across the Mid-Columbia Saturday and start mixing down to create windy conditions on the ground, according to the weather service.

Saturday a south wind of 10 to 20 mph is forecast increasing to 23 to 33 mph in the afternoon in the Tri-Cities.

Gusts could be has high as 46 mph by evening, increasing to up to 48 mph Saturday night.

Sunday should be breezy with a south wind of 21 to 23 mph and gusts as high as 32 mph.

A 40 percent chance of rain is forecast for Friday night, increasing to 50 percent Saturday. Rain should total less than a tenth of an inch.

Sunday should be wetter. A 60 percent chance of rain is forecast with up to a quarter of an inch of rain possible.
