Umatilla refuge plans wildlife day Oct. 5

Umatilla National Wildlife Refuge will hold a wildlife day from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 5 at the refuge, 72650 Riverview Lane, Irrigon, Ore.

A bird walk starts at 8 a.m., and the canoe/kayak tour starts at 9 a.m. Also included are the songbird landing and viewing at Callow Overlook from 9 a.m. to noon, a lecture on pond life from 10 a.m. to noon and a bat program at 11 a.m.

Most activities happen at the Hunter Check Station on Paterson Ferry Road. For more information, call 541-922-4661.
