The Return: Battelle Film Club's offering a little flat

Gary Wolcott, atomictown.comSeptember 26, 2013

The Battelle Film Club offers up 2003's Russian film The Return. The father of two boys who disappeared right after the younger son was born returns and takes the boys on a trip. He barely knows them but bullies and controls them as if he's been in their lives all along. The older boy is kind of OK with it, but the younger rebels.

And that's about it.

The Return is an interesting character study with nowhere to go. If it's your thing, you'll find this a good one.

Director: Andrey Zvyagintsev
