Kennewick — The man who led the Tri-Cities Cancer Center in Kennewick during its formation about 20 years ago has been named the new chief executive officer.
Charles W. DeGooyer replaces Tom Corley, who took the job on an interim basis in April while officials searched for a permanent CEO following the retirement of the longtime executive director.
DeGooyer most recently was CEO of American Cancer Societys Great West Division. He was administrator of the cancer center when it was forming in the early 90s, helping finalize negotiations between the three Tri-City hospitals to establish the regional facility, a news release said.
His experience will keep the cancer center at the forefront of cancer treatment clinics, said Jeff Petersen, chairman of the centers board, in a news release. The governing board feels strongly that Chucks leadership will afford community members with greater access to care while providing world-class cancer treatment for all.
