Athletes of the Week for Sept. 15-21

Big school football: Joey Zamora, sr., Chiawana: Completed 18 of 23 passes for 283 yards and three TDs in leading the Riverhawks to a 42-7 win over Richland.

Small school football: Terran Brown, sr., River View. Scored on 97- and 65-yard punt returns and a 90-yard interception return in 54-0 win over Kiona-Benton.

Cross country: Emily Kump, jr., Southridge: Won the Apple Ridge Invite by nearly a minute, finishing the 3-mile race in 18 minutes, 23.3 seconds.

Girls soccer: Braydey Hodgins, soph., Chiawana: Scored two goals in 3-2 win at Richland, then netted two more — plus two assists — in 7-1 win over Kennewick. Leads MCC with nine goals.

Volleyball: Shantelle Hill, sr., Chiawana. Had 12 digs and 15 kills in a victory over Richland and seven digs and 19 kills in a five-set win over Kamiakin. She had only four hitting errors for the week.

Swimming: Lauren Hall, so., Richland: Won the 100- and 200-yard freestyle and swam on the winning 400 free relay as Richland swept a tri-meet with Hanford and Southridge. She also won the 100 fly, placed second in the 200 free and swam on two winning relays at the Mid-Columbia Invite.
