Letter: 'Charity begins abroad'

September 24, 2013

The United States is a generous country, and as I've said before, we may not have enough money for many domestic programs, including public tours of the White House, where lobbyists continue to receive entrance.

But President Obama does make generous donations to foreign countries, and I particularly want to commend the president's most recent initiative called Power Africa, pledging $7 billion to provide electricity to those living in darkness.

As they say, charity begins abroad, and I'm sure those who see the light would want to say "Thank you, mr. president."
