Chip seal planned on some Kennewick streets

September 22, 2013

— Kennewick residents can expect to see road maintenance on streets throughout the city this week.

In some cases, no street parking will be allowed portions of the roads because workers will be chip sealing the roadway, according to a city news release.

The night after chip sealing, sweeping will be done by the contractor between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. It may be noisy. A few days later, the roads will be striped.

Roads that will be chipsealed include 10th Avenue between Union and Garfield streets and Kennewick Avenue between Volland Street and Highway 395.

City officials would like Kennewick residents to allow extra time, as traffic delays up to 30 minutes may be experienced.

Work will continue until Oct. 11.

The schedule for the chip seal will be provided to businesses and residences in affected areas before to the day of the chip seal project.

For more information and a map and schedule go to www.go2Kennewick.com then click “A to Z” in the title bar, then click “C” then “Chip Sealing.”
