Football: Sanders leads Prosser past Othello

September 21, 2013

Prosser 27, Othello 16: Isaiah Sanders rushed for 105 yards on 20 carries and scored two touchdowns to help the Mustangs rally past the Huskies on Friday in a CWAC showdown between top-10 teams.

Othello came into the game ranked No. 3 in the state, while Prosser was tied for 9th in the first Associated Press polls of the season.

Othello took a 10-7 lead in the second quarter on a field goal by Miguel Gonzalez, but Sanders went to work from there.

He scored on a 16-yard run to put Prosser on top 14-10, and then on a 10-yard run for a 21-10 lead.

After Josiah Peterson scored on an 11-yard pass from Alix Garcia, David Ledesma iced the victory by returning an interception 36 yards for a touchdown.

It was the second consecutive victory for Prosser over Othello, as the Mustangs beat the Huskies in the Class 2A state quarterfinals last season.
