Campfire burn ban lifted for most parks east of Cascades

September 19, 2013

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission has ended its general campfire ban for most state parks east of the Cascades.

The action follows an announcement Wednesday by the Department of Natural Resources, lifting a ban on recreational fires on lands under DNR fire protection east of the Cascades.

An earlier statewide ban on campfires was lifted in August for Western Washington state park campgrounds.

Some restrictions may remain in place for specific state parks or portions of parks, which includes Sacajawea State Park off Highway 12 east of Pasco.

Visitors are advised to check the State Parks website at www.parks.wa.gov to find out which parks may still have burn bans in place.
