A 36-year-old man appeared in court Tuesday on charges that he allegedly raped and choked a woman earlier this month.
Cristobal Arteaga Garibay pleaded innocent in Franklin County Superior Court to charges of first-degree rape, second-degree assault, burglary and first-degree robbery. A trial date is scheduled for Nov. 11.
Garibay is being held on $500,000 bail.
Garibay reportedly broke into the woman's Franklin County house on the morning of Sept. 5, court documents said. Once inside, he allegedly sexually assaulted the woman and stole her underwear and jewelry.
Authorities arrested Garibay as he was coming out the back door of the house, court documents said.
