September 17, 2013

— A 22-year-old Walla Walla man was jailed after breaking into a retirement apartment and punching a man recovering from a stroke.

Jason H. Beeman was jailed in Walla Walla on Saturday on investigation of robbery, burglary and assault.

Beeman allegedly went to the Applebee’s restaurant and handed a note to an employee demanding money and threatening to kill the employee.

He then allegedly went to the nearby Affinity retirement apartments, 1706 Fairway Drive and tried to get inside. A Walla Walla officer saw Beeman punching a 56-year-old man on the ground who had fallen trying to get away from him, said a news release.

Beeman was allegedly demanding money from the man, who was a recovering stroke victim with limited mobility. The victim suffered minor injuries in the assault, said police.

Beeman is also accused of spitting at a police officer and jail officer.
