Northwest Cancer Clinic in Kennewick is the first in the Tri-Cities to offer clinical trials through the research group Radiation Therapy Oncology Group, a clinic news release said.
The clinic's physicians have partnered with Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle to offer trials, endorsed by the National Cancer Institute, via the prestigious research group, the release said. The clinic recently enrolled the first patient in a trial aimed at helping find cures for prostate cancer that recurs after surgery, the release said.
The clinic's physicians also "are especially excited about other (research group) trials that are open to see if holistic or organic products can help reduce side effects of chemotherapy and radiation," the release said.
To be accepted into the research group, the Kennewick clinic's radiation treatment linear accelerator had to undergo rigorous testing, which it passed with flying colors, the release said.
The Kennewick clinic provides radiation oncology treatment. It's at 7379 W. Deschutes Ave., Suite 100. For more information, go to www.nwcancerclinic.com.
