A former Kennewick man and his wife will be featured on Tuesday's episode of House Hunters International.

Kyle Bryant, a Kamiakin High School graduate, and his wife, Desi, who grew up in Walla Walla, will talk about their apartment-hunting experiences in Ireland.

He's a chiropractor who attended Western States Chiropractic in Portland. After he graduated in December 2012, the couple decided to live abroad for a year or so, just for the experience.

"He put out some feelers among foreign chiropractors, and the two he really wanted to work with were both in Ireland," said Kyle's mother, Liz Bryant. She and her husband, Dave, live in Richland.

The couple left the Tri-Cities in January 2013 to spend a year in Carrick-on-Shannon in Ireland. But before they left, Desi -- a fan of House Hunters International -- sent an audition tape to the show's Home and Garden TV producers.

Late in January the producers contacted the couple and invited them to appear on the show.

"They were astounded they were picked but said yes right away," Liz Bryant said.

The 30-minute episode was taped in Ireland and the Tri-Cities. The premise of the show is a couple looks at three possible homes or apartments and discusses what they like or dislike about each and then are shown living in one of the three.

"Kyle and Desi had already chosen the furnished apartment they wanted, so the producers set up filming dates in two other mock apartments and at an Irish brew pub," said Liz Bryant.

Then, the weekend after Valentine's Day, Kyle and Desi were flown to the Tri-Cities where the film crew had them talking about their ties to Ireland -- both of Kyle's parents have close relatives who immigrated from Ireland -- and why they chose to spend a year there.

"They spent about three hours at our house doing that and having Kyle and Desi looking at old family photos of our Irish relatives," Liz Bryant said.

Then the Bryants took the film crew to Howard Amon Park and Bookwalter Winery in Richland for additional film footage.

"They chose Bookwalter because that's where Kyle and Desi met," Liz Bryant said.

The couple were on a plane heading back to Ireland just hours after the crew was finished filming. They'll be in Carrick-on-Shannon until the end of 2013, then search for a home somewhere in the Northwest.

The House Hunters International episode featuring the Bryants will air at 7:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on HGTV.
