Letter: Overtime effort from repair crews after storm appreciated

September 12, 2013

There are many serious problems in the world that grab the daily headlines. There are also a lot of essential systems that function so smoothly that we give them little thought until they are disrupted by something like the recent thunder storm.

A strike near our home tripped the transformer pole fuse at our house and our well. Being without power and water is not nice. Power to our house was restored at midnight. Who knows how long that crew was up? The well problem was discovered and reported the next morning. Power there was restored before noon but we still did not have water. After checking to see what we could do, we called the pump repair folks who were also quite busy. They came out that afternoon and made the repair.

Thank you Big Bend Electric line crews and L.W. Smith Pump Co. employees! Other Mid-Columbia utility repair crews likely responded equally well.
