Letter: Volunteers and donors make up for stolen items at Richland Food Bank

September 12, 2013

This letter is regarding the Tri-Cities Food Bank, where I'm the volunteer executive director. Recently, our Richland Food Bank was broken into and various items stolen that were necessary to service our clients.

I want to take the this opportunity to thank the citizens and corporations of the Tri-Cities for their overwhelming response to the articles written by the Tri-City Herald regarding this unfortunate occurrence.

We received many offers of equipment and cash donations that are going to go a long way toward getting our service levels back to our high standards.

I also want to thank all of our volunteers who have stepped up and worked that much harder to make sure we adequately served our clients. Because of the efforts of our donors and volunteers, we were only closed one day more than normal. Thanks again to the citizens and corporations of the Tri-Cities.

JOHN R. NEILL, Richland
