Troy Trombley stopped 27 of 28 shots and Brian Williams scored the game-winner at 5:23 of the third period on the power play as the Tri-City Americans beat the Spokane Chiefs 2-1 on Wednesday in preseason play at Eastern Washington University.

Rookie Ty Comrie opened the scoring for Tri-City with a goal at 4:56 of the first period. Though it was his first goal of the preseason, he leads the team with seven points.

Adam Helewka scored the lone goal for Spokane at 11:13 of the third.

The Chiefs outshot the Americans 28-18. Spokane’s overage goalie Eric Williams made 16 saves and helped kill off 8 of 9 Tri-City power plays.
