Americans fall to Spokane in preseason hockey

The Tri-City Americans (1-4-0-0) dropped the final game of the Red Lion Hotels Preseason Tournament to the Spokane Chiefs 5-3 on Saturday night.

Braden Purtill, Mitch Topping and Brian Williams all scored for the Americans, who tied the score at 3-3 in the second.

Liam Stewart scored the go-ahead goal at at 19:52 of the second for Spokane, and Jacob Cardiff sealed the win with a goal in the third period.

Rookie Evan Sarthou finished with 16 saves for the Americans.
