Letter: U.S. should stay out of Syria

September 4, 2013

If there was ever a time to write and call our representatives in Congress, specifically Send. Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, that time is now! President Obama has announced that he will seek congressional approval for a military strike/intervention in Syria. Let our voice be heard that we do not support our country and military acting as the "world police" and entrenching us in yet another conflict.

The United States has has not even shared its alleged evidence with our United Nations counterparts to prove beyond a doubt that it was the Syrian government responsible for the chemical weapons attacks.

It is absolutely absurd to proceed with an attack that will cause untold amounts of blowback against our country. It is completely unacceptable for our congressional representatives to vote in favor of U.S. intervention in Syria, and they need to know this. Not only would they lose my vote when they seek re-election, but I will personally campaign for their opponents if our state's representatives in vote in favor of this military strike, and I would urge you all to do the same.
