Hanford contractor gets safety, outreach awards

Tri-City HeraldAugust 30, 2013

Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International at Hanford has been awarded the Department of Energy's Star of Excellence Award for safety.

The award was presented to ATL at the 29th annual Voluntary Protection Programs Participants Association conference in Nashville, Tenn., this week. In conjunction with other DOE prime contractors at Hanford, ATL also received the 2013 Outreach Award.

This is the second time ATL has received the Star of Excellence award since it became a Hanford prime contractor in 2005. The Star of Excellence was awarded to ATL based on employees' commitment to the principles of the Voluntary Protection Program, performance in meeting established safety and health goals, conducting outreach to others and achieving an injury and illness rate significantly below the average of similar businesses.

The Outreach Award is presented to "Voluntary Protection Program ambassadors," in recognition of outreach activity and results and for encouragement of others.
