Whitesnake, Love and Theft to top off fair

Whitesnake headlines the main stage entertainment Aug. 23 with Love and Theft performing Aug. 24 at the Benton Franklin Fair & Rodeo, on Oak Street off 10th Avenue in Kennewick.

Whitesnake is the vintage rock band from the 1970s whose hit singles include Here I Go Again. Love and Theft, a country music duo, is made up of Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson. Their self-titled latest album reached No. 4 on the country music charts.

Showtime is 7:30 p.m. The concerts come with fair admission, and reserved seats cost an additional $10.

The fair opens at 9 a.m. each day. Admission to the fair is $13 for ages 13 and older and $5 for seniors and kids 6 to 12. Kids ages 5 and younger are free.

Carnival rides open at noon each day. All-day wristbands cost $30 and can be purchased at the fair.

The Horse Heaven Round-Up rodeo admission comes with purchase of a fair ticket, but reserved seats cost an additional $10. The rodeo starts at 7 p.m. each day.

Alcohol, weapons, bicycles, skateboards, inline skates, roller skates and pets are not allowed on the fairgrounds. Backpacks and bags will be subject to searches.

Parking costs $8 each day.

To avoid the parking fee, Ben Franklin Transit will provide rides to and from the fair. Buses leave from Kamiakin High, Lampson Stadium, the TRAC, the Tulip Lane Park & Ride parking lot, and the three transit centers in Pasco, Kennewick and Richland.

Buses leave from each point every hour between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., and every half-hour from 5:30 to 11:30 p.m. The shuttles depart from the fairgrounds hourly starting at 9:30 a.m. and every half-hour starting at 5:30 p.m.

A bus/fair combo pass costs $13 for ages 13 and older, $7 for seniors and kids 6 to 12. Advance tickets at all Tri-City area Albertson's stories, Yoke's supermarkets, Three Rivers Convention Center and Ranch & Home stores.

The last bus leaves the fairgrounds at midnight. Bus service from West Richland connects to fair shuttles at the Knight Street Transit Center via Route 120. The last bus to leave West Richland for the fair connection is at 7:10 p.m. There will be one express shuttle to West Richland, Benton City and Prosser leaving the fair at 10:30 p.m. each day. Fares are $1.50 each way or $4 each way for a family of five. Seniors and disabled pay 75 cents.
