Former DOE manager to discuss Hanford issues

A former Department of Energy Hanford manager will discuss Hanford issues and their significance at a meeting of the Columbia Basin Badger Club.

Mike Lawrence, manager of the DOE Hanford Richland Operations Office from 1984 to 1990, will speak at the meeting at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Pasco Red Lion, 2525 N. 20th Ave. Register at cbbc.clubexpress.com. Cost is $22.

Lawrence will discuss Hanford's leaking tanks, hydrogen gas issues, delays in building the vitrification plant and the absence of a national deep geological waste repository and potential solutions to those problems.
