Catholic Family & Child Service receives $25,000 grant

Tri-City HeraldAugust 16, 2013

Catholic Family & Child Service will use a $25,000 grant to support its maternity programs in the Tri-Cities and surrounding area, a news release said.

The grant, one of two of its kind given nationally by Catholic Charities USA, will support the Pathways to Parenting and Hope Home programs.

Pathways provides services such as case management, advocacy, resources and referrals and home visitation, while Hope Home services focus on providing care to pregnant and parenting youths ages 12 to 20 and their babies, the news release said.

"The program emphasizes both staying in school and parent education as a bridge out of abuse, poverty and a host of other risk factors. Relationships with mentors and people who care and will 'walk the journey with them' are foundational elements to this successful program," the release said.
