Arson ruled out in Liberty Theater building fire

Tri-City HeraldAugust 16, 2013

— Investigators have ruled out arson as the cause of Wednesday’s fire at the old Liberty Theater building in Pasco, a police official said Friday.

An arson investigator with the Pasco Police Department inspected the building for any signs the fire was set intentionally, Capt. Jim Raymond said.

“Due to the size of the fire we investigated it,” Raymond said. “There is nothing that we can determine that indicates it being a criminally started fire.”

The cleanup of the of the 98-year-old building is mostly complete, said Pasco fire Battalion Chief Dave Hare. Officials are expected to release the cause of the fire next week.
