Richland's McCullough fires low golf score of 66

Frank Garber of Kirkland continued his solid play with a 2-under par 69 in the second round of stroke-play qualifying to earn medalist honors at the 59th Pacific Northwest Junior Boys’ Amateur Championship, being held at the Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa in Victoria, B.C.

Garber had fired a 3-under par 68 in yesterday’s first round. He will be in the No. 1 seed going into tomorrow’s first round of match play.

Drew McCullough of Richland had the low round of the day, a 5-under par 66. He finished third.

Yesterday’s round was played on the resort’s Valley course, while today’s round was contested on the Mountain course. Kevin Vigna, the defending champion from Coquitlam, B.C., tied for 12th.

w Match play began with Round of 16 matches at the 58th Pacific Northwest Junior Girls’ Amateur Championship being held at The Links Golf Club in Post Falls, Idaho.

In a rare match play occurrence, the first round saw the higher seeded player win every match, as the top 8-seeded girls all moved on to the Quarterfinals.

In the Flight 2 quarterfinals, Pasco’s Neydeen Martinez defeated Yuri Machida of Redmond, Wash., 1 up.

In the Flight 4 quarterfinals Richland’s Lacy Skwarek beat Clarkston’s Grace Frazier 6 and 4.
