Letter: Child sex trafficking shouldn't be considered prostitution

August 5, 2013

The July 30 Tri-City Herald mislabeled the crime of sex trafficking, particularly child sex trafficking.

Several months ago, the paper labeled a Kennewick domestic minor sex trafficking operation a "prostitution ring." On July 30, the Herald labeled child sex trafficking as child prostitution.

State law recognizes children found in the sex "industry" as sex trafficking victims. It's time the Tri-City Herald did the same.
