Car catches fire on I-82 south of Kennewick

— A car caught on fire on Interstate 82 about 18 miles south of Kennewick on Sunday.

Connie M. Blevins, 66, of Boise was driving eastbound on I-82 about 12:50 p.m. when she reportedly fell asleep, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Her 2003 Toyota Camry entered the median and came to rest on the westbound inside shoulder, where the car caught fire, according to the patrol.

Blevins was taken to Kennewick General Hospital. She was wearing her seat belt. Her condition was not available as of Sunday evening.

Blevins was charged in connection with second-degree negligent driving, according to the patrol.
