State Senate: Brown

August 4, 2013

Sharon Brown has been a leader in our community. When she was mayor pro tem for the city of Kennewick, she helped to reduce the budget in the amount of 7 percent without laying off a single employee. She also helped in the development of the Southridge area, which brought in almost $5 million from tourism in less than one year.

She was also instrumental in getting the Urban Growth Boundary moved so that the city will now not have to turn away industrial developers.

When she arrived in the Senate, she continued with her ability to get things done by getting numerous bills signed into law. Several of those bills go to help small businesses right here in our district. She also brought much needed attention to the unintended consequences of Initiative 937 when she sponsored her "Don't Buy Before Need" bill. Those unintended consequences are going to hurt some of the most vulnerable in our community, our seniors. We need to have Sharon in Olympia because she is able to get things done and she will fight for our district.
