Richland's Arneson wins junior state title

Ezra Arneson shot a 2-under 70 on Friday at The Home Course in DuPont to win the Washington state Junior Golf Association state tournament’s 14-15 year old division.

Arneson, who will be a sophomore in the fall at Hanford High, shot a 71 and a 76 in the first two rounds to finish at 217. Redmond’s Grant Cole and Hoquiam’s John Sand tied for second at 222.

Walla Walla’s Emily Baumgart finished second in the girls’ 14-15 year old division, shooting a three-round total of 235. Baumgart, who goes to DeSales, shot a 79 in the third round.

Pasco’s Jalayne Martinez finished in fifth place in the same division with a total of 240. Lynnwood’s Sarah Rhee shot a 71 to win at 224.

Orting’s Joseph Harvie won the 16-17 boys division with a 206, while Mukilteo’s Alvin Kwak won the 12-13 division at 216. Sammamish’s Victor Wang won the 8-11 division at 152.

Gig Harbor’s Alivia Brown won the 16-17 girls division at 214, Bremerton’s Brittany Kwon won the 12-13 division at 225 and Tacoma’s Julia Bordeaux won the 8-11 division at 166.
